When I was a sophomore at Phillips Academy, I became one of the very few students to pass out of Competency when it came to essay writing. Even in English courses that were meant for juniors and seniors, I stood out, getting an A+ in some sections. During college, I got interested in acting and graduated with a Performance Studies degree from Northwestern University. I finished up my master's in Education from American International College. For seven years, I taught and tutored English courses at Somerville High School, teaching both standard and honors students. I also tutored individuals in MCAS Prep, SAT Prep, public speaking, and theater. While I was there, students' test scores improved tremendously. I like to focus on the strengths of the student as well as any areas that are challenging for them. I truly believe that anyone can develop the skills to learn effectively. I will go the extra mile in making sure my students' skills improve and that they are ready for college. I also work to make sure that our sessions are full of fun and energy, and to create a comfortable atmosphere for learning. In my spare time, I like to hone my acting skills and continue working on two movie scripts. My hobbies include playing tennis and guitar. I also love to cook, travel, and to spend time with my family.
